Stocking Nicotine Toothpicks in Your Store: A Retailer’s Guide
Share
If you run a convenience store, smoke shop, newsstand or specialty grocery and you already sell nicotine pouches, nicotine toothpicks are the easiest new SKU you’ll add this year: same customer, same shelf, same age check, and a product most of your competitors don’t carry yet. This is the practical guide to stocking them.
What they are, in one sentence
A wooden toothpick infused with nicotine and flavor, used like any toothpick — no smoke, no vapor, no device. Picnic’s come in flip-top tubes of 20 picks, in three flavors and three strengths. See what are nicotine toothpicks for the customer-facing explanation.
Who buys them
Adults 21+ who already use nicotine and spend their day somewhere they can’t smoke or vape: office workers, drivers, retail staff, travelers. In our own stores the buyer is often a pouch customer trying something new, or a vaper who wants something for the workday. A single tube at $9.99 is an easy impulse add at the register; the 3-tube pack is our best-selling size online.
Where to put them
Behind the counter next to the nicotine pouches, where the age check already happens. A small counter display takes about as much space as a pouch can. We supply a counter display and a shelf talker that carries the required nicotine warning, so the display itself keeps you compliant.
Licensing and age
Nicotine toothpicks are a nicotine product. In most states — including New York and New Jersey — selling them requires the same tobacco or nicotine retail registration you hold for pouches and cigarettes, and the federal minimum age is 21. Check ID the way you already do. If you’re not currently registered, your state’s tax department handles it; it’s the same registration, not a new one.
Taxes
Several states tax nicotine products at the wholesale level, and the rules changed in 2026: New York now taxes alternative nicotine products, and New Jersey taxes nicotine products as tobacco products. In both cases the tax is paid by the distributor or the importing seller, not collected at your register — but it affects the shelf price, which is why suggested retail can differ by state. Ask your accountant how your state treats oral nicotine products; we’ll give you a tax-inclusive price sheet for yours.
Margin
Suggested retail is $9.99 per tube. We price wholesale to leave stores a conventional margin on that, with case quantities of 20 tubes. Pricing and a sample tube are one email away — use the form on our wholesale page or write to hi@enjoypicnic.com with your store name and location.
What we send with your first order
- A counter display sized for the register
- A shelf talker with the nicotine warning and 21+ notice
- A one-page sell sheet for your staff
- A listing on our website’s store list, so customers searching “nicotine toothpicks near me” find you
What we won’t send
Health claims, quitting claims, or marketing aimed at anyone under 21. Picnic is for adults who already use nicotine, and our packaging and materials say so. That protects your store as much as it protects us.
