Kosher-Certified Nicotine Toothpicks: What the Certification Covers
Share
Every Picnic nicotine toothpick — Cool Mint, Sweet Whiskey and Fire Cinnamon, in every strength and pack size — is certified kosher under the supervision of the New Square Beth Din of Kashrus. If you’ve been looking for a kosher-certified nicotine product and finding mostly silence, this page explains what the certification covers and where to find it on the tube.
What “certified kosher” means here
Kosher certification is an ongoing supervision arrangement with a rabbinic certifying agency. The agency reviews every ingredient that goes into the product — for Picnic, that means the flavorings as well as the nicotine solution and the wood — and the process used to make it, and continues to supervise production after the initial approval. A product that passes carries the agency’s symbol on its packaging.
Picnic’s certification is from the New Square Beth Din of Kashrus (NSK). Their symbol appears on every Picnic tube.
Which Picnic products are certified
All of them. There is no uncertified flavor or strength:
- Cool Mint — 3mg, 6mg and 9mg
- Sweet Whiskey — 3mg
- Fire Cinnamon — 3mg
- The Variety Pack, which contains one tube of each of the above
Why a toothpick needs certification at all
A nicotine toothpick is something you put in your mouth for a while, and the flavors in it are food-grade flavorings. For anyone who keeps kosher, that makes it a question in the same way a flavored gum or a mint is — and most nicotine products on the market simply don’t answer it. We chose to.
How to verify it
Look for the NSK symbol printed on the tube. If you’d like to confirm the certification directly, the New Square Beth Din of Kashrus can be contacted through its own office; we’re also glad to answer questions at hi@enjoypicnic.com.
A note on what certification doesn’t cover
Kosher certification is about ingredients and process. It is not a statement about health, and it doesn’t change what nicotine is. Picnic is a nicotine product for adults 21 and over who already use nicotine; it is not intended to help anyone quit smoking or to treat any condition.
